I Learned To Live Without Intimacy artwork shows how the desire for intimacy stays alive inside me, but I learned to control it now. The bright background shows my natural need to be loved, cared for, and to feel close to someone, and this need will not disappear, doesn’t matter how much I try to control it, because this is human nature and it cannot be changed. The blackish shape shows the learning process I went through after betrayal, pain, and repeated emotional damage from past experiences while trying to satisfy my need for intimacy as well as love. The whitish shape shows acceptance of what those experiences taught me, how I learned to protect myself instead of giving myself easily, and that I am now content and much stronger in controlling my intimate desires. This artwork means I learned to live without intimacy, I respect my body and myself more than ever, and if intimacy comes into my life, it will only come on my terms and with respect, not from need or desperation.
